We had a problem...

"Do you think it's the lube?" he said to me through the bathroom door. "Maybe" I said. I was having irritation or yet another yeast infection. But it wasn't just my personal struggle because when it wasn't me, it was him.

We had a unique issue; I had sensitive skin and he had Type 1 Diabetes. Two conditions that made us both vulnerable to yeast infections and skin irritation.

But, we did what we always did and powered through the current bottle of the expensive lube we had already bought, then went to Target to hunt the personal aisle for something else. It was our own, masochistic quest to find the best lube, always landing a bit short.

We realized personal lubricants had gotten anything but simple.

We always tried to grab the bottles that looked promising, whether by design or ingredients. Many times that meant picking the most expensive option. But nothing really hit the mark. When they weren't irritating, they were sticky, or not the right texture. Whatever happened to the rule of 'keep it simple, stupid'? Sex should be simple and fun. As we looked at each bottle and researched ingredients we realized lubricants had gotten anything but simple.

It turns out glycerins, parabens, petroleum and other commonly used lubricant can make you more susceptible to yeast infections or other skin irritations.

After asking around we realized that many of our friends were having the same problem.

Our lube was getting in the way of our sex life, and in turn our happiness. We wondered if it was just us. Was anyone else having this problem? After asking some questions we realized that many of our friends were having similar problems and like us,  just kept powering through. At that moment we thought - why don't we make our own lube? So we did.
